Nice article. I don't know if Thundercat "came up" with that one but hey, I'm sure he has a great explanation on the application in the book, as you describe... It's a great way to approach - and... well, YOU are still approaching, so it's hardly about getting women to approach you?

The tactic you describe works extremely well in street or shop scenarios as it creates a feel of positive spontanuity to the situation.

Eye contact before opening is important in a lot of scenarios, except when you want to put on a display of being surprised, or when you actually want her to open you, in which case you do not even need eye contact, ... A favorite tactic of mine is to position myself next to the girl I want to talk with, an then focus on building rapport with her while I am talking with someone else - I.E. the bartender. The second time she glances over I'll just look at her and go "what?" with a smile. That will ALWAYS happen as you focus on developing rapport, ... and if you DON'T do anything after the second glance, she will open you in more than 50 % of your attempts.
